Bus Routes
2014-15 Bus Line-up

Activity Bus: Gar-Field High School runs a number of buses for students staying after school for activities. All buses run Monday through Thursday. Please see the links below for times and route information:

The 4:40 p.m. activity bus
The 5:20 p.m. activity bus
The IB bus

Visitor Parking & Late Students
Visitor Parking is located on the baseball side of the school. There are special spots indicated for school visitors. All visitors, as well as late students, must enter through door #1 by the front office.

Local Hero Award
Gar-field High School is proud to announce Kate Schell-Smith as a winner of Prince William County's Local Hero Award. Schell-Smith is a PWC New Horizons Therapist and  licensed social worker who provides counseling services to at-risk youth with GFHS. She was nominated by co-workers because of her year-round therapy programs, alcohol and abuse prevention project, and dedication to her students. Schell-Smith was honored at an event on Thursday, December at the Kelly Leadership Center, presented by the Healthy Communities Healthy Youth Council.

Gar-Field Specialty Programs
Are you interested in applying for one of Gar-Field High School's specialty programs: International Baccalaureate Programme or Project Lead the Way? If so, click here to access the online program application. [You may encounter a security warning prior to accessing the application. The website is safe; please push through the security warning.] The deadline for all Prince William County specialty program applications is February 1, 2015. If your base school is Gar-Field High School, and you are interested in one of these specialty programs, you will also need to complete the online application. If you are currently enrolled in an IB Middle Years Programme, you will also need to complete the online application as you transition to high school.

MLK, Jr. Oratorical Contest Representative
Gar-Field Senior High School 2014-2015 Representative: Joy Amoah, Grade 12
I am a senior at the Home of Champions (Gar-Field High School); I'm from Accra, Ghana, but born in Verona, Italy.  Upon graduation I will pursue a career as a Psychiatrist, in the United States Air Force,  and  obtain my Bachelor's Degree at Radford University.

Gar-Field High School is proud to present JOY AMOAH as the 2014-15 Martin Luther King, Jr.  Representative for the School of Champions. Joy’s speech entitled "We Only Know of Peace" discusses the African and American journey through racism and prejudice from the inside out. Joy emphatically embraced the passion that Dr. Martin  Luther King, Jr. believed in, and expressed her temperance on the topic:  The High Road of Peace and Brotherhood. Joy will go on to compete against other students in Prince William County.

Mandatory Concussion Training for Sports Tryout
Dates for 2014-2015 Mandatory Face-To-Face Concussion Training for all student athletes and parents of student athletes who wish to try out for any sport are listed below. Please note that all sessions will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. All participants should enter Door 17 by the Receiving Area. No late entry will be permitted after 7:00 p.m.

Alumni Walkway

The Alumni Walkway in Ralph Burnett Stadium has been installed and awaits your brick!  The walkway will be inscribed with the names of Gar-Field students, Alumni, Teachers, Faculty, Clubs and Groups.

By reserving a brick, you can show generations to come what Gar-Field means to you.  In addition, you are helping the student athletes at Gar-Field.  All Alumni Walkway proceeds will help support the Gar-Field Athletic Program.

Student Parking Permits
All students who drive to Gar-Field High School must have a valid parking permit on the vehicle.  The cost of the parking permit is $100.00.  To obtain a parking permit, fill out the Student Parking Permit Application and bring the completed form to the Security Office. The deadline is September 30.

Check Cashing Policy
We welcome your checks at Gar-Field High School.  However, if your check is returned for any reason, we will electronically present it to your bank for the face value plus a $35.00 processing fee.  Any protest or bad check return fee charged by your financial institution, and all other charges, interest, and attorney's fees are your responsibility. This action will be taken without further notice.  We reserve the right to decline your check.
